The Blackberry Bushes Stringband (Olympia WA)

The Blackberry Bushes is a love story of pickers, singers, songwriters, strummers, and stompers. Friends came together to make songs, because they loved them, and they loved each other. We live in a world of work. In this world of work, we need a place to play. This is why people are talking. The Blackberry Bushes can really play.
In bars, cafes, galleries, radio stations, festivals, acoustic houses, private events and street corners, they play. They play their songs with love, sincerity, dedication and jubilation. Kendl Winter and Jes Raymond write songs of breath, habits, birds and bog beings. They bring their love of bluegrass, old-time, and indie rock, pass it through their hearts and clever minds and voila…a music for you that sounds like something you have never heard, but always known.

SHE SWINGS SHE SWAYS (IA) + THE BIG IDEA
Americana, Folk, Indie

She Swings She Sways - When the band is asked what “style” of music that they play, a common answer is “Midwestern” music. She Swings, She Sways’ range of influences is wide, combining rocking two-beat stomp, soulful lovelorn lyrics, and lilting pop melodies.
“Basically, we steal the best elements of the music we like and when the six of us play together, it just comes out kind of sounding like us” says Cory Canny. “We’ve been described as Americana, folk, pop, indie, and polka. I’m pretty certain that the older gentleman who described us as ‘polka’ was heavily medicated at the time, because he also insisted that he was my real dad.”-SSSS

When you need a soundtrack for a life full of sweet sadness accompanied by the unwavering happiness that is within us all, you need look no further than “The Big Idea.” Singing songs from the heart about lost loves, growing up, and rambunctious quarter-life antics; Tommy Main and Will Montgomery don’t just sing the words on the page… they live them. Together, the two set out to use their knowledge of acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin, bass, drums, and everything else under the sun to come up with a live show that is bigger than the two alone. Whether playing to a crowded bar full of rowdy patrons, or to the quiet atmosphere of the quaintest coffee shop, “The Big Idea” is at home in any venue big or small with a live show to match any environment. As Will says, “The Big Idea” isn’t just a band, it’s an idea that we have. The idea that two guys can play two instruments and make the people move…move them on the floor first and foremost…but hopefully by the end of the night, move them into rethinking what they want out of live music. It’s an idea that songs from the heart and the soul should always beat out the radio songs.” -TBI

THIS FRONTIER NEEDS HEROES (Brooklyn NY)

This Frontier Needs Heroes is the American Folk duo of brother and sister Brad and Jessica Lauretti from Brooklyn NY. Formed in 2007, when Brad’s band broke up, his sister Jessica suggested that she play drums for him. He told her she wasn’t good enough. So she learned how to play tambourine, harmonica, ukulele, harp, and sing! Stripped down, lyrically driven, and influenced by the whole American catalog from Soul to Country, The Heroes outlaw revolutionary style is social commentary and an emotional blueprint for navigating through these wild times! Now on tour across the US and Europe in support of their self released debut record, available on itunes in July, they are searching for mind blowing experiences of heroic proportions!
“The emotional empathy between siblings who play music together usually carries about as much weight as a Nelson CD. But brother-sister duo Brad and Jessica Lauretti, known collectively as This Frontier Needs Heroes, adds much more credence to the whole idea. With harmonies so tight they sound like they come from a single larynx, the act crafts a shuffling, aching Americana that taps deep into the whole back-porch vibe that folk music ought to exude—but not without a tinge of The Band and Will Oldham to help modernize it.” - Decider.com
“Arresting local neofolk duo This Frontier Needs Heroes combines spare, literate songs in a Neil Young vein with hints of homegrown psychedelia” - Time Out NY
“This Frontier Needs Heroes croons heartbreaking folk…This Frontier Needs Heroes quietly explode all of your notions about cheesy family bands.” - Time OUt NY
“This Frontier Needs Heroes makes music that’s warm and organic-sounding without resorting to any of the standard alt-folk singer/songwriter cliches. ” - East Village Radio
“Dangerous Brooklyn Folk Duo” - Olympia
“Brother Sister Country Folk Killers” - Los Angeles
“Gorgeous stripped down folk” - Massachusetts
