Drawing on the sounds of Joni Mitchell, Gillian Welch, Bob Dylan, and CSNY, Annie and the Beekeepers is a folk and country inspired trio that met at Berklee College of Music in December 2006. When Annie Lynch (lead vocal, guitar), Ken Woodward (upright bass), and Alexandra Spalding (cello, vocals) first began playing together in living rooms and basements around Boston, the mysterious disappearance of bee colonies throughout the world was receiving a great deal of attention in the media. The Bee has long been a symbol for hard work and community, and the Beekeepers were inspired to preserve and promote those same qualities by way of music and their role in the music community.

“Springfield’s favorite instrumental jamband,” LFDC Funk consists of Rob Stegeman on saxophone, Chris Childress on keyboards, Dominic Viano on bass guitar, and Nick Queensen on drums. Todd Day Wait draws from the stories of folk, the raw feelings of the blues, simplicity in country, the spirit of gospel, the power of rock, the rhythm of reggae, improvisational through jam, the distinctive look of pyschedelic and the body movin’ music of Memphis soul and New Orleans funk. He has been establishing his presence professionally for five years, accumulating over 400 live show experiences and releasing two albums with East Ash Street Band.
Starting to work nationally in 2009, he formed Pigpen. Playing his original songs, songs of the past and jams of the future, Todd Day Wait’s Pigpen is comprised of a rotating line-up of professional musicians from around the country.

The Frogs have a wide range of influences. Jumping through rock, funk, soul, blues and reggae, Frogs Gone Fishin’ attended school in different cities, including New Orleans, Nashville and Boston, allowing them to experience some of the most interesting music scenes in the country. They’ve regrouped in Colorado and have been busy touring the rocky mountain state along with a few other areas of the country.

It’s a connection that has served the band well as it’s built an audience in Austin, Texas, where brother David has lived over the last ten years. Dubstep is a genre of electronic music that has its roots in London’s early 2000s UK garage scene. Musically, dubstep is distinguished by its 2step rhythm, or use of snare sounds similar to 2step garage and grime, and an emphasis on bass, often producing “dark” sounds, but just as frequently producing sounds reminiscent of dub reggae or funky US garage.

Every Second Saturday of the month, join us at the moon for a taste of some local dubstep from various DJs around the area. At 1am we’ll bounce over to the Upstairs Lounge for even more wobbles and whomps..

The musical roots of The Ragbirds sound are complex – with Gypsy, Middle-Eastern, Americana, Rock, and Latin influences, all stirred with a Celtic fiddler’s bow. In live performances the band incorporates variations on traditional African drum pieces, each member trading their instrument for a hand drum. The Ragbirds craft their songs carefully weaving joy and hope into honest lyrics, while keeping an ear always open to improvisation.”

Lucas Paine was born an army brat in North Carolina, but the family moved north, and he grew up in Alaska; fishing camps and boats during the summer, playing music and trying to stay warm in winter. Lucas likes trees and snow, high places, warm nights, and cold, salty water. There are birds and lions in his music.

Creating music that his listeners describe as Acoustic/Electronic Experimentation, Renner pushes the limits of the acoustic singer/songwriter paradigm, but yet remains accessible, personal and intimate. His influences range from Radiohead to Beethoven, Bjork to Sufjan Stevens, and he elegantly displays each in a creative blend of musical and technical prowess. Playing the roles of musician, producer, and engineer he completed four full length albums, three EPs, and scores for several short films including a piece for the film “Love Overdue,” winner of the Best Original Score award at the 2005 Greensboro 48-hour Film Competition.
